Step 1

First of all, create or navigate to the page or post that you would like to edit.

Step 2

Click on the shortcode dropdown, signified by a [] symbol.

Step 3

Click on the shortcode named “Divider” to insert it into the page.

Step 4

Within the shortcode, you will see the text style=”none, single, double, dashed, dotted, shadow”. You must chose one of these styles and delete the rest.

The style affects how the divider will look on the page. From the six options you must only have one. For example style=”dashed” – it must be contained within quotes. If the divider appears to be invisible, check to see if you have accidentally left a comma or space inside the quotes.

If you are unsure which style you want, try them out! change the style text between the 6 options and click on preview to see what it looks like.

Step 5

Submit, update, publish or preview your page or post and it should look similar to this image.

If a divider is added inside of a column shortcode, the divider will only be the length of that column.

Additional Information – “Top” Parameter

Part of the divider shortcode contains the line  top=”40″. What this means is that there is a gap or margin of 40 pixels. between the divider itself and whatever content is above the divider. Although it”s unlikely you”ll need to do this, should you ever want to change this margin, you can do this by changing the number 40 in quotes to be higher for a larger margin, or lower for a smaller margin.
