Step 1

Proceed to the “edit page” screen for your desired page by either create a new page or editing an existing page.

Step 2

Locate the two boxes this guide covers – “Page Attributes” and “Layout Options” boxes. They are both located on the left of the page. You may need to scroll down to see them both.

Step 3 – Page Attributes – Parent

A “Parent” is a page that is structured above other pages. For example, if we have a “Services” page with the hyperlink http://www.yourwebsite.com/services, and we are creating a new page about one of our specific services: “Web Design” we can make the new “Web Design” page a child of the “Services” page by selecting “Services” in the drop-down box.

When we next publish or update the page, the permalink will change from http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/web-design to http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/services/web-design.

Step 4 – Page Attributes – Templates

A template is an overall style for your page. By default there are two templates “Default Template” and “Blog”

Default Template is the main template that all of your pages will use, with one exception, the “News” page which will have the Blog template.

If we have created you a new custom page template, it will be selectable from the drop down menu. When the page is next updated the selected template will be applied to the page.

Step 5 – Layout Options – Display Title

This is a simple Yes or No drop-down box to display or hide the page title. This is useful if you wish to use different text other than the page title in header 1 tags at the top of the page.

Step 6Layout Options – Display Sidebar

As part of your design we may have created sidebars that can be displayed on the left or right side of the page. You can use the drop-down box to select for the specific page if you wish to have the sidebar displayed or not.

Step 7

After you have amended any settings, remember to update or publish the page using the “Update” or” Publish” button located on the left, above the “Page Attributes” box.
