Step 1

From the dashboard, click on the Media button located on the navigation bar down the left side of the page.

The WordPress image editor is very useful if you need to crop, rotate or flip an image to allow it to fit better on a page.

Step 2

Navigate to the image that you need to edit and click on “edit”.

Step 3

Click on the “Edit Image” button located below the image itself.

Step 4

To crop, click and drag onto the image the are of the image that you want to keep. Everything outside this box will be removed. You can click and drag the crop area, as well as use the small squares to adjust the proportions.

You can use the other buttons located just above the image to rotate or flip. If you make a mistake use the two arrow buttons to undo or redo.

Step 5

Click on the Crop button; the left-most one.

Step 6

If you have finished with your changes, click on save below the image area.

If you change your mind about editing the image, you can on Cancel you will be taken out of the editor with none of the modifications being saved.

Additional Information – Restoring to Default

If you later on decided that your image modifications are unsatisfactory, you can enter the edit image screen again and there will be a new “Restore Original Image link to the right of the image area. Click on this, then click on “Restore Image” to return it back to default.

Additional Information – Aspect Ratio Cropping

You can enter the aspect ratioThe ratio of the width to the height of the image into the two boxes provided. You can then hold down shift while drawing the cropping box onto the image and it will maintain this ratio. For example an aspect ratio of 1:1 will keep the selection square.
