Step 1

From the control panel portal, click on ‘Posts’ located on the navigation bar down the right side of the screen.

Step 2

Click on add new post.

Step 3

Type in the post or article title.

Step 4

Add the post content (Please see our other articles for help with adding page content).

Step 5

On the right hand side of the page there will be a box named ‘Categories’. Click on the check-box for the category you want the post to be under.

In most cases the only category will be ‘News’. You must make sure a category is selected or the post will not appear on the desired page (in this case the News page).

Step 6

Right below the ‘Category’ box there is another box named ‘Tags’. Use the box to enter any tags for the post.

Tags are like keywords for your post. For example a news post about responsive web design could include the tags ‘Web Design’ and ‘Responsive Design’ Tags not be unique and used across multiple posts.

There are two benefits to tags – it can help users find related posts with the same tag, as well as help your SEOSearch Engine Optimisation efforts.

Step 7

Below the tags box there is another box named ‘Featured Image’. Click on the link ‘Set featured image’.

A featured image is the picture that appears at the top of the post, as well as on the News (category) page.

Step 8

Select the image you want to use, or upload a new image.

Please see the adding images to a page article if you are unsure how to do this.

Step 9

Publish the page by clicking on ‘Publish’ in the top right.

Step 10

Navigate to your News page (or appropriate category page) on your website to see the news post. It should look similar to this screenshot.

If you have changed the date to be in the future, it will not appear. Likewise, if you set the publish date in the past it will appear under any other posts with a more recent date. (See below for more information about this).

Additional Information – Changing the Publish Date

If you don’t want the post to be visible at the same time as you create the post (for example if you are creating an announcement – but don’t want the announcement to go out until a later date) you can modify the publish date. by clicking edit next to the publish date located a little bit above the main ‘Publish’ / ‘Update’ buttons.

After amending the date you must click on ‘ok’ right below the date, and after that, update or publish the post.

If you set the date to publish in the future, it will automatically be set live on that date and time.

You can also set the publish date to be in the past too, if you like!
