To add a new page to your website, you need to first create the page using the administration dashboard. To do this, click on the “Pages” link on the left of the screen. This will display all of the current pages that exist on your website. To add a new page, you then need to click on the “Add New” button at the top of the page, or on the left side of the screen.

TITLE & URL

The tools used to create the new page will now be displayed. First you need to input a title by clicking on the text box near the top of the page where it states “Enter title here”. The title should be relevant to the content you wish to have on the page. After you have put in a title, a line text will appear with a suggested permalink (the permanent URL link used to access the page) name based upon the title. Usually this will be suitable, however if you wish to edit it simply click on the edit button and type in the URL you wish the page to have.

New Page

CONTENT

Below the title, you will see a large text box with quite a few buttons at the top of it. This represents the main content of your page and is where you will need to input any text and images that will be displayed on the page. The buttons above the box are very similar to what you would find in a word processor and other office based programs such as Microsoft Word, which can be used to manipulate text within the box. For help with using this box please view Rich Text Editing

PREVIEW & PUBLISH

As you are creating the content for your page, it is a good idea to regularly check a preview of the page to see exactly how it will look on your live website, as you can then make any changes necessary to get the page to look exactly how you want it to without committing the page to your live website in an unfinished state. To do this click on the “Preview changes” button at the top right of the page. This will open up new tab to display the preview, and only you will be able to see it.

Once you are happy with your page, simply click the blue “Publish” button, and this will create the page. You will now be able to view your page by inputting the permalink that was created for the page into the URL bar into your browser (for example www.yourwebsite.co.uk/newpage).

You will now need to add the page into the navigation menu. Please view the Navigation guide on how to do this.
